UI/UX with Odoo ERP

Technology consultant - Web Responsive

During my time at Vauxoo Consulting, I worked on multiple projects, each with distinct business models. Given Odoo’s versatility across various industries, it was essential to tailor designs to each client’s work environment, addressing their specific needs and those of their customers.

I highlight three key projects that deepened my expertise in user experience research and analysis. In these, I collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, including frontend and backend developers, DevOps, project managers, stakeholders, tech leads, marketing, and sales teams, using Kanban-Scrum methodologies.

Islamic Relief – UI

Context

I designed a responsive interface for a donation website, focusing on migrating their platform to Odoo while maintaining a seamless user experience. The goal was to make the transition invisible to users while redesigning the UI with Bootstrap guidelines. Deliverables included mockups for critical views like the product detail page (PDP), checkout, and seasonal campaigns such as Zakat and Sadaqa.

Deliverables

Weekly prototypes presented to the product team, who conducted usability tests. Tasks were tracked via GitHub, managing tests, changes, and approvals to ensure efficient integration with the development team.

ABSA

Context

In 2020, ABSA, a Guadalajara-based company, needed to enhance its website urgently due to the pandemic. While they used Odoo ERP for inventory and accounting, they lacked the CRM module essential for managing e-commerce. The challenge was to redesign their platform to meet user needs and align with the CEO’s expectations under tight deadlines.

Deliverables

Using Design Thinking, I conducted heuristic audits, developed a functional design system, created developer-approved wireframes, and clarified the information architecture. The result was an optimized experience that integrated Odoo’s CRM module with a design aligned to business objectives.

Results

Delivered in two months, the project reached the staging phase with continuous improvements. While user testing iterations were limited by contractual constraints, the new design system and structure provided a scalable, future-ready solution for ABSA.

E-commerce

SBD

Context

This project involved designing a web form for a bank in Costa Rica. Initially managed in Excel, the form needed a digital transformation to streamline completion and enable digital signatures, enhancing user experience and workflow efficiency.

Deliverables

Prototypes created in Figma, segmented into stages, and aligned with Bootstrap for consistent design and functionality. These designs were presented to the client and developed in collaboration with their technical team.

After implementation, the bank stopped using Excel, centralizing and storing the information directly on the Odoo servers, which improved efficiency and data control.
